High Road Productions’ Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows has been chosen as the opening night film at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival, running Oct. 19-25 in Sheffield, Eng.

This marks the world premiere of the two-hour documentary, which has been licensed to tvontario for broadcast in Ontario, the A-Channel in Manitoba and Alberta, and ctv for the Maritimes, Vancouver and Saskatchewan. High Road’s David Ostriker is currently negotiating with cfcn for Quebec.

The broadcasters have all agreed to air the show over the same programming week. A-Channel has tentatively slotted the documentary for Sunday, Nov. 15 and tvo for the 18th. ctv is still firming up its schedule.

a&e holds u.s. rights to Hitman Hart. Internationally, a deal is on the table with Denmark 2, says Ostriker, and sales are finalized to bbc in the u.k., Arte for Germany and France, nrk in Norway, yle in Finland and orf in Germany.

Wrestling fans managed to get their hands on a rough cut, says Ostriker, and word of the film has spread over the Internet. High Road has been besieged with calls to see the doc and as a result is now in negotiations for an international home video release.
