Revenues for Cinar Films’ third quarter, ending Aug. 31, 1997, increased 74% to $17.8 million from $10.2 million for the comparable period in 1996. Net earnings for the quarter rose 71% to $2 million or $0.16 per share from $1.2 million or $0.10 per share for the third quarter of 1996.
This was the first quarter to include the operations of Carson-Dellosa. ‘Although our third-quarter results reflected only one month of consolidated operating performance, for the month of August, Carson-Dellosa generated $4.1 million of revenue,’ says Ron Weinberg, president of Cinar.
During the quarter, Cinar delivered 29 new half-hours of animation and live-action programming, bringing the library to a total of 1,100 half-hours. This compares with 24 half-hours delivered during the same period last year.
