Telesat Canada inked a six-year deal with CTV Television Network to carry the network’s signal to its 25 affiliates. The use of three digital video compressed channels will save ctv money, increase signal quality and improve service.

Montreal: A special f/x explosion on the set of Allegro Films’ action feature Jackal created an unexpected fireball, scattering glass and debris in the Old Montreal location. Several thousand dollars worth of damage and overtime expenses were incurred, but no injuries.

The Canadian leg on the $22 million Jackal wrapped last week and returns to Israel this month. Jackal stars Ben Kingsley, Donald Sutherland and Aidan Quinn as the infamous terrorist ‘Carlos the Jackal.’
