A public process has been launched to address the regulation of the expanding broadcasting distribution undertakings in Canada, the crtc has announced. The process is aimed at ensuring an orderly transition from a monopoly to a competitive environment and setting rules that are fair to all distributors.
The public process will consist of two stages of written submissions, leading to an oral public hearing Oct. 7 in Ottawa. The deadline for submission of written comments to the crtc in the first stage is July 16 and Aug. 16 for the second stage.
