News Briefs: Mtl. Jewish Film Fest

Fourteen feature films and documentaries are featured in the second Montreal Jewish Film Festival, which unspools May 9-16 at the NFB Cinema in downtown Montreal.

The festival’s opening-night film is Un Beso a Esta Tierra, a documentary on Jewish immigration to Mexico in the 1920s and ’30s. Other entries include Paula Paulinka, a profile of the 97-year-old contralto and teacher, and The Memory of Justice, a four-hour epic on the legacy of the Nuremberg Nazi war crimes trials.

The festival is a project of the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal and is sponsored by Canadian Heritage in association with the nfb.
