The 22nd ACTRA Awards in Toronto were handed out on Monday (April 22), with CBC comedy Sort Of winning the series ensemble award.
The annual awards are held by ACTRA Toronto to recognize the achievements of its members. Monday’s ceremony took place at the Palais Royale at Toronto’s lakeshore.
Sort Of (Sphere Media) won the Members’ Choice Series Ensemble Award. Other nominees in the category included fellow CBC series Murdoch Mysteries (Shaftesbury), Pretty Hard Cases (Cameron Pictures) and Run the Burbs (Pier 21 Films), and Bell Fibe TV1’s Pink Is In! (Pink One Productions).
The award for Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Male went to Salvatore Antonio for Hollywood Suite and Shudder series Slasher: Ripper (Shaftesbury), while Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Female went to Elizabeth Saunders for the short film SmokeBreak (Benchmark Pictures).
In the voice categories, Maria Nash won the Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Female Voice award for her work on Apple TV+’s Pinecone & Pony (First Generation Films, DreamWorks Animation). The respective gender non-conforming or male category went to Cory Doran for YTV’s Super Wish (redknot).
Rounding out the winners is the U.S. feature The Marsh King’s Daughter (Black Bear Pictures, Anonymous Content), which won the 2024 Stunt Ensemble Award.
Previously announced recipients include Maria del Mar, who was presented with the 2024 Award of Excellence and Tom Farr with the 2024 ACTRA Toronto Stunt Award.
