Commercial Directions: Shewchuk gets first Radke job

Director/cameraman Steve Gordon of comm.bat films is just back from Halifax where he shot two days for Schooner through Corporate Communications. Other recent work at comm.bat includes three days for director David Storey and dop Sean Valentini for Keno Lottery through Promanad and a day for director/ dop Derek Vanlint for Kellogg through Leo Burnett.

Martin Shewchuk has picked up his first director gig through Radke Films. Shewchuk will direct two shoot days and a prelight for ups through Ammirati & Puris/Lintas in early May, with Gabor Tarko the dop. Jeff Jones will pick up three days for Kellogg’s in late May, and in early June he’ll shoot two more days for Red Rose Tea out of J. Walter Thompson. dops for both are yet to be determined.

Avion Film’s Henry Holtzman and dop Stan Mestel are shooting seven days in Vancouver for Save-On Foods through Palmer Jarvis.

Rob Quartly of The Directors Film Company and dop Anton Van Rooyen shot a day through Pirate Radio for the Hockey Hall of Fame. Quartly also shot three days with Rene Ohashi for Eatmore through Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll.

At Apple Box Edmonton, Gary Weis and dop Jan Kiesser shot two spots in Calgary for the Alberta Ford Mercury Dealers Association through y&r. Post for the two spots, ‘Car Wash’ and ‘Golf,’ will be handled by Edmonton’s Studio Post.

Dalton’s director/cameraman Jack Churchill just shot a day of Maxwell House through Ogilvy and Mather. Editing will be handled at Panic & Bob.

Director Shannon Farr and dop John Tran of Moondog Visual Productions shot one day in Toronto for the Asian Heritage Month Festival.
