Commercial Directions: `Explosion’ of work for D’Alessio

Things have been ‘exploding’ at Imported Artists this month. Director Richard D’Alessio and dop George Willis have a day for Bell Canada through Leo Burnett. Gillian McCarthy at Third Floor will edit. D’Alessio is also directing two days on location in Alberta for Petro Canada through Roche Macaulay and Partners. Sean Valentini is behind the camera and McCarthy will again handle post.

Next week, director Charlie Carson and dop James Garner will shoot a Wonderbread assignment for Bensimon Byrne, and in two weeks, D’Alessio and Valentini will shoot three days for Trimark Mutual Funds through Leo Burnett. Flashcut’s Mick Griffin will edit both.

Next week, Gary Johns will direct two days for BC Tel and BBDO Vancouver. Tom Olgeirson will be behind the camera.

Radke Films’ Eric Steinman and dop Barry Parrell picked up a prelight day and one shoot day last week for Kraft Miracle Whip through J. Walter Thompson. Partners’ Post’s David Hicks will make the cuts. Wayne Gibson directed and Gabor Tarko lensed a day for McDonald’s through Cossette. David Baxter of Partners’ will edit.

At Vancouver’s Apple Box Productions, director Philip Spink and dop John Spooner have just finished a three-day shoot for bctv/Coast Mountain through BBDO Vancouver.

Last but certainly not least, the dop on the Braun shoot mentioned last issue was David Norton of The Artists Company.
