In brief: Rogers reports an increase in revenues

* Rogers Communications reports an increase of 10.9% in revenues for the six-month period ending June 30, 1995, citing the 23.1% increase in wireless communications revenue as the primary driver.

Overall revenues increased to $677.8 million, up $611.3 million over the same period last year. Operating cash flow increased to $201.3 million, up 5.6% from $190.5 million.

Rogers Wireless Communications revenue reached $225.7 million, up from $183.4 million the year before while operating cash flow for the division was up 30.3% to $90.3 million from $69.3 million. Performance primarily reflects an increase in cellular subscribers, which are up 28.2% to 840,697 over the 655,587 subscribers on board this time last year.

Cable television revenues rose 5.6% to $228.9 million from $216.9 million. Operating cash flow decreased 7.8% to $90 million as a result of contributions to the Cable Production Fund and increases in supplier fees for new and existing specialty services.

Multi-Media revenue made a modest gain of 7.8% to $190.7 million, up from $176.9 million. Operating cash flow increased to $24.5 million from $23.5 million in the 1994 quarter.

Rogers’ share of the Unitel losses increased in the second quarter to $24.3 million from $21.8 million.
