* ChumCity International will now be handling international distribution for Citytv, MuchMusic, MusiquePlus and Bravo! titles.
In addition to program sales, ChumCity International will handle production partnerships, format licensing and affiliation agreements. Senior manager Jim Willis is heading up the sales side, and the division reports to Chum Television vp programming Jay Switzer.
Catalyst Distribution, which distributed the City and Much programs internationally for the past five years, will now be acting as a consultant. For u.s. sales, ChumCity will continue to work with Unapix Distribution.
* Groundling Marsh, the eco-themed children’s series, is being produced as the first interactive mini-film for a u.s. mall-based entertainment venue. The film is produced by Portfolio Film and Television in association with J.A. Delmage Productions.
* Vancouver’s Motion Works Corporation entered a copublishing venture with New York’s HarperCollins Publishers to develop and distribute a cd-rom based on Bruce Whatley’s kid’s book Whatley’s Quest. Motion Works will produce, HarperCollins will handle marketing and distribution. This is to be the first of a number of collaborations.
Motion Works also inked a publishing deal with Vancouver film/tv producer Crescent Entertainment, to develop and distrib A Ghost in the Dark, a film noir interactive mystery disc, melding film, video, digital animation and sound.
