ACFC West and rival b.c. technicians union nabet (now a member union of Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada) have met to discuss the possibility of merging.
Tom DeGray, union representative for cep/nabet says: ‘It’s being discussed at their (acfc’s) executive board level. There is an overlap in who the unions represent (film and video technicians), so obviously a merger would simplify the situation.’
Jimmy Lewis, president of ACFC West, confirms a meeting took place but denies his new board is considering a merger, despite an article in the acfc newsletter to the contrary.
