while news of cbs’s renewal of Due South is pending, rumors say the Alliance Communications series, after its first season, will be cancelled.

Creator and executive producer Paul Haggis said from New York, ‘We’ve got a slim chance.’ When regular pre-emption of the show started in January, ratings dropped and Haggis says they never recovered.

If cbs says no, Haggis has at least two other projects to pitch to the networks including a comedy, Norman Life, and what he calls ‘a dark dramanothing like Due South.’ As for Due South, options such as American cable networks could keep the show alive.

In the meantime, Haggis and Due South star Paul Gross are off to England to promote the Mountie/ Chicago cop series, now airing on BBC 1 in primetime.
