gala fetes six

The Toronto Women in Film and Television Awards Gala was held in Toronto March 30. Award winners included Rita Shelton Deverell, Alexandra Raffe, Martha Henry, Suzette Couture, Ted Rogers and Moira Dann.

Vision tv host and producer Deverell won for outstanding contribution to women’s role in the industry, and Ontario Film Development Corporation head Raffe took the prize for achievement in producing.

When Henry took honors for best achievement in acting, she said she hopes to make a feature with a woman director one day.

The seasoned Couture, who won for achievement in writing, was introduced as ‘one of the greatest writers on Danger Bay.’

Rogers won the Stornoway Friend of twift award.

Writer Dann was awarded a joint twift-cbc prize that carries a development deal with cbc for an mow.
