Film and TV production tops $1 billion in ’94

Over $1 billion was spent on film and tv production during 1994 by Canada’s independent film and tv production companies.

In this report, Playback asked the independent production community what they produced and developed in ’94, and how much their companies invested in film and tv production and development during the last calendar year. See page 31 for the list of companies that participated in the survey and all the titles they worked on last year, and page 33 for the financial breakdown of the whopping $1,066,917,178 grand total spent by indies on filmed entertainment production.

Also in this report, Playback talks to some of the players in the indie community, who discuss the state of the production nation, as they see it. Theatrical production strategy is also explored with some feature producers who have – despite the odds – managed to ring up success in this arena.
