Spink shoots BCTV
In Vancouver, Apple Box Productions’ director Phil Spink shot an image campaign for bctv while director Graham Hunt paired up with dop Roger Vernon on an eight-spot pool for Save On Foods.
Cactus Productions’ James Head donned his director/dop cap for ‘Birthday Millions’ and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. The job was through Scali McCabe Sloves, Vancouver.
Moving to Toronto: through Young and Rubicam, Damast Gordon and Associates’ director/ dop Steve Gordon picked up a day for Mott’s Clamato Juice. ‘Cantalk’ was edited by Jeff Fish of Chameleon Film and Video. And with John Lindsay on camera, Glen Schultz directed a spot for CD Mural out of Grant Advertising. Tim Kirkwood of Flashcut posted the spot, entitled ‘Favourites.’
At The Partners’ Film Company, director George D’Amato continues his busy streak with another day for Padulo and cibc, with George Willis handling dop duties. D’Amato also scored two days on an Ivory campaign out of Saatchi and Saatchi. Editor David Hicks worked on both jobs. Matthew Vibert directed two days for New York-based The Shutte Group and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Brant Lambermont posted.
Roundhouse Films’ Alex Schmoll directed a pool of psas for the Canadian AIDS Society entitled ‘Canada Has aids.’ The assignment was out of Thomas Watt Advertising. Jim Donovan directed the French versions.
Larry August of Chaos International directed a pool of 10 15-second spots for Credit Union Central of Ontario, with James Gardner taking dop honors. The job, posted by Third Floor Editing’s Jon Hopp, was out of Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly.
Imported Artists’ director Charlie Carlson and dop Declan Quinn joined forces for five days on an Eaton’s assignment out of Bensimon Byrne. Shot on the East Coast, the spots were edited by Bruce Copeman of Partners’ Post. Richard D’Alessio directed a new Bell Canada spot out of Leo Burnett. Barry Peterson handled camera on the two-day shoot and Hopp posted.
Director Errol Morris of The Directors Film Company landed three days for Lenscrafters, with Christoph Lanzenberg on camera.
At Avion Films, Matthew Harris was the director/dop on a two-day Mars Bar shoot, and Stan Mestel directed and shot a day for Crest Toothpaste. Both jobs were out of dmb&b.
At Heathgate Films, director/ dop Gordon Clark had three days for a Swiss Chalet pool out of Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly, with David Buder of XYZ Interactive posting. Director Ron Leyser and dop Harry Lake teamed up for McCain and bws. Reel Ideas posted. Director/dop Chris Woods had a spot for Ford out of y&r, with Buder posting. Also at Heathgate, director Ken Demme and dop George Willis had a spot for Crest Toothpaste out of Leo Burnett, Mexico, with Buder again handling post.
Circle Productions director Robert Turner scored two days for the Milk Marketing Board from MBL/BBDO Watt Burt. Rene Ohashi served as dop. Turner also had two days for Crispy Crunch Light out of Leo Burnett, with Nick Taylor on camera. Derik Murray directed two days for McDonald’s through Palmer Jarvis, Vancouver, with Phil Linzey taking dop credit. A one-day spot for Playland Amusement Park, through Palmer Jarvis, was directed by Fred Frame and shot by Roger Vernon.
At The Players Film Company, Tom Ryan picked up five days for Campbell’s Soup through Bates, Canada, and director David McNally and New York-based dop Nixon Binney landed two days for Hair out of Grey Canada. Through Campbell Mithun Esty, Henry Less wrapped a spot for The Terry Fox Run and also scored seven days for Maritimes’ Tourism, with John Lloyd handling dop duties.
At Bongard Films, director/ dop Ralph Bongard has just returned from Winnipeg where he spent five days on a product shoot for True Value Hardware. Bob Buchan was editor on the job.
In Montreal, La Fabrique d’Images has completed shooting on ‘Avion,’ a new French 30 for Bell Quebec’s long-distance calling card and agency Cossette Communication-Marketing. Jean-Francois Pouliot directed on the one-day shoot featuring the popular Monsieur B. and his mixed-up brother-in-law. Steve Danyluk was the cinematographer, Richard Marchand was the art director and Michele Tremblay was post supervisor.
And a major four-day date lensed earlier this summer has produced two 30s for Labatt Draft – ‘Baseball’ and ‘Volleyball.’ These English/French spots were directed by Georges D’Amato. Robin Miller was the dop and Jean-Marie Benoit composed the hot sound tracks.
