It is surprising that in your extensive article on the Gemini Awards (p. 1, March 14) you made no mention of the fact that Acts of War picked up three Geminis including Best Documentary Series; this was every category nominated – fairly unusual, warranting a mention, one would think.

Instead you dwell on the ‘struggle’ between the pov documentary and current affairs. Certainly the pov documentary has its place where the credentials are right (seldom), but the ‘struggle’ really is – or should be – to save the documentary from the increasing use of it for soapbox ravings, to understand its value as the most telling medium of record from which our audiences now and in future can get the full facts and assist them toward their own (less manipulative) point-of-view.
