ITVA recap gala

fetes T.O. winners

The International Television Association took its annual festival west to Vancouver this year with the first show in eight years held outside Toronto. While attendance topped the 150 mark, many companies whose corporate videos won awards at the festival did not make the trip to the coast for the festival presentation.

As a result, itva’s Toronto chapter is honoring its 14 winners with a separate dinner and gala, including 10-minute clips from winning videos, to be held April 13 at the Ashtonbee Campus of Centennial College.

The president of itva Toronto, Steve Rollason of Precision Camera, says some interesting trends can be gleaned from the Toronto winners’ list. He points out that all four gold awards went to private production companies as opposed to in-house producers. He adds that all golds went to public service videos. Gold winners include: Northern Lights Productions’ Catch The Wind, Communique Group’s Bridging The Gap (Communique also won a bronze for a sales/marketing piece called Let’s Start Talking), Bascombe Group’s U.V. and Me, and Straylight Productions’ Keys of Our Own.

All planning to attend the Toronto gala should rsvp to Rollason by April 7.
