Distribution veterans start new company
Quebec distribution veterans Gilles Lenoir and Louis Dussault have launched K Films Amerique, an operation tied to K Films, Paris.
Dussault has closed his 15-year-old specialty film distribution company, Films du Crepuscule.
K Films Amerique, owned 60% by Lenoir and 25% by Klaus Gerke, director of the Paris operation, will specialize in the ever-crowded European art film market.
The company’s maiden project is an innovative month-long mini-festival of 10 European films, slated for screening at Cinema Parisien, Feb. 11 to March 11. Radio-Quebec, Le Devoir, Famous Players and a local micro brewery are sponsoring the event. Radio-Quebec will broadcast the K Films lineup in return for $100,000 of on-air publicity.
