montreal: One of Radio-Canada’s top executives, Guy Gougeon, is leaving the public broadcaster after 30 years to become vice-president/general manager of Cogeco Radio-Television.

Gougeon, Radio-Canada’s vice-president, television, spent eight years in the post of vice-president, engineering, and for the past four years was head of the French-language national tv service. He leaves Jan. 31.

At Cogeco, he’ll assume responsibility for all aspects of the management and development of the company’s radio and tv holdings.

A publicly traded company listed on the Montreal and Toronto stock exchanges, Cogeco operates cable services in five Canadian provinces, publishes 33 Quebec and Ontario weekly newspapers and operates five radio and four tv stations in Quebec. Louis Audet is Cogeco president and ceo.
