Doc days of summer at CBC

Bosses, virgins and the atomic bomb will be on CBC Newsworld next month, part of a lineup of domestic and foreign docs set to air on The Passionate Eye and The Lens.

The docs, announced Tuesday, are fronted by Hiroshima, a BBC production from 2005 which re-examines the first A-bomb attack. It will air on Aug. 6, one day after the 62nd anniversary of the attack, on Passionate Eye. Other British titles picked up by The Ceeb include Fresh Blood for Al Qaeda, a look at how the terrorist ring has reorganized since Sept. 11, and Michael Apted’s celebrated 49 Up, set to air uncut over two nights.

The 13 titles also include The Big ‘V’ by Artizan Productions in Vancouver, in which filmmakers Michelle Welygan and Erin Mussolum talk to people who have kept or ‘reclaimed’ their virginity, and Sex, Truth and Videotape, a 2004 six-parter from Les Productions Virage and filmmaker Francine Pelletier, about the changing mores of female sexuality.

Bosses, a recent hour-long from ID: Productions in Alberta, looks at how bosses function in the modern workplace, directed and produced by ID’s Rosie Dransfeld (Mothers of Courage). It will air on The Lens.
