The Burning Question

They say there’s no such thing as TV seasons anymore – that summer is as must-see as the fall or May sweeps – but the evidence of our local listings suggests otherwise. There seem to be just as many reruns as before, and they’re a poor substitute for, let’s say, a new season of Frontline. And so, not for the first time, we ask:

‘Is there anything good on? Anything at all?’

My watching takes a nasty guilty pleasure turn over the summer months. I am completely vested in So You Think You Can Dance – from the dancers to the judges to the choreographers – it’s madness. Jazz hands!

I love Big Brother…I am always addicted to it every summer. I also like it because you can access the live Internet feed, 24 hours a day. It makes it more interesting.

We recently got a PVR, and while it hasn’t yet ‘changed my life,’ the movies and series are sitting waiting for us. We just watched Syriana, Match Point and The Squid and the Whale. Many more hours to come.

Currently, I’m watching Code Monkeys on G4techTV and loving it! It follows the lives of the geeky employees at a video game development company…It’s done in 8-bit animation and comes complete with a status bar that keeps track of everything from characters, weapons, and, of course, your points throughout the episode.

There’s a show called Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on the Food Network…where Chef Gordon Ramsay goes to businesses that are failing and he turns them around. I know it sounds insanely boring…but this person may be the most charismatic person on television right now, and it is a treat to watch his show.
