New Media BC is calling all digital content creators to submit their projects for the inaugural PopVox Awards, honoring excellence in digital media, to be handed out at the opening gala of the Vancouver International Digital Festival on Sept. 22. In a new partnership, this year’s VIDF will kick off just ahead of the Vancouver International Film Festival (Sept 27 to Oct. 12).
Winners will be determined via online votes through popvoxawards.com, where entries can also be submitted.
The awards are comprised of seven digital media categories, including Best Web 2.0 Application, Best Mobile Game, Best Digital Animation Short, Best Digital VFX, Best Game, Best Digital Music Score, and Homegrown: The Best of British Columbia.
‘Who better than industry peers to determine and celebrate the very best achievements by independent digital content producers,’ said New Media BC president Lynda Brown, in a release.
The deadline for submissions is Sept. 7. The Vancouver International Digital Festival runs Sept. 22-25.
Meanwhile, the deadline is fast approaching for video game and animation companies to enter the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts. Prizes for the second annual Elans will be handed out in Vancouver on Nov. 2.
The Elans focus on the industries of video game development, animation, and digital arts/new media education, and will present statues to the winners in 37 Canadian and international categories. They include game of the year, art direction, innovation in gaming, and best animated production.
The deadline for submissions is Aug. 31. Producers can enter their projects at www.theelans.com.
