In deal-making ahead of next week’s NATPE, Entertainment One has picked up the global distribution rights for the new VH1 scripted comedy/drama series Hindsight (10 x 60 minutes). With the deal, eOne will handle the distribution of the series across all media for territories outside the U.S. Hindsight is executive produced by Emily Fox, John A. Norris, Carl and Beverly and Sarah Timberman for Timberman/Beverly, Maggie Malina and Alexander A. Motlagh. eOne also acquired the international television distribution rights for the AMC documentary event series The Making of the Mob: New York. The series is produced by Stephen David Entertainment and includes eight, one-hour episodes. The Making of the Mob will premiere on AMC in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2015.
Peace Point Rights
Peace Point Rights has sold the series Bulloch Family Ranch and Food Truck Face Off to Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic (DLA/USH). The first and second seasons of Bulloch Family Ranch – which follows Rusty and Julie Bulloch as they mentor and counsel at-risk youth at their home – have been sold to DLA/USH’s Hispanic network Discovery Familia, and is to also air on one of their networks in Latin America. The show currently airs on U.S. net UP. Food Truck Face Off (14 x 60 minutes) has also been sold to DLA/USH, to air on one of their networks in Latin America. The series – hosted by NFL player and former The Bachelor star Jesse Palmer – sees aspiring food entrepreneurs compete for the chance to win a customized food truck for a year.
Distribution360
Distribution360 has sold three Si Entertainment series hosted by contractor Bryan Baeumler (pictured) – Leave it to Bryan, House of Bryan and Disaster DIY – to several international networks. Australia’s Foxtel has renewed three seasons of Leave it to Bryan (91 x 30-minute), and the first two seasons of House of Bryan (42 x 30 minute) and Disaster DIY (26 x 30 minute). Brazil’s Globosat has also picked up the first two seasons of Leave it to Bryan, while South Africa’s The Home Channel has acquired season four of Leave it to Bryan (26 x 30-minute), and purchased the 14 x 30-minute football pro-turned-handyman Sebastian Clovis-hosted Tackle My Reno.
Outside the home renovation space, Distribution360 also closed deals for Hilz Squared Media Group’s 60-minute documentary about Luka Magnotta entitled Sex, Frame and Murder. The doc was picked up by Germany’s Spiegel TV, France’s Planète + and Belgium’s Medialaan, while Nat Geo Denmark has picked up the Media Headquarters ice-skating docudrama Tessa & Scott (7 x 30 minutes). The Internet and mobile rights for Best Boy Entertainment’s Save My Pet (39 x 30 minutes) were also picked up by FashioNation TV in Canada and the U.S., with the broadcast rights bought by Branded Channel (Thailand). Finally, the Internet and mobile rights for Wraith Films’ Ghostly Encounters (83 x 30 minute) have also been bought by FashioNationTV, while broadcast rights have been grabbed by Poland’s Discovery ID.
