Food Network Canada has added a new Iron Chef spin-off and yet another outing by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to its fall lineup.
The Next Iron Chef goes to air Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Oct. 21, pitting eight top American chefs against each other in a six-part series of cooking challenges. The winner will join the ranks of the original four Iron Chefs. The judges are restaurateur Donatella Arpaia, Bon Appetit‘s restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton, and culinary journalist and blogger Michael Ruhlman.
It will lead into Jamie Oliver’s new series, Jamie’s Chef, which premieres Oct. 21 in the Sunday 10 p.m. ET/PT slot. The show is a follow up to Jamie’s Kitchen, about disadvantaged youths who transformed into chefs while apprenticing at Oliver’s London restaurant. In Chef, Oliver hand-picks four promising youngsters from among the original graduates to compete for the opportunity to open and run their own restaurant in Essex.
