FX’s Fargo TV series – currently basking in the glow of its five Golden Globe noms – is to return next month to Calgary for a second season shoot, with Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons in the lead roles.
FX has ordered another 10 episodes to debut in fall 2015.
The second cycle for Fargo sees Calgary and southern Alberta doubles Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota in 1979 where a young state police officer yet to be cast is recently back from Vietnam and on hand to tackle a new criminal case.
The series from MGM Television and FX Production has Noah Hawley, Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield and John Cameron returning as executive producers. MGM Television is also the worldwide distributor of the series.
Dunst will play a small town beautician with big city dreams, and who shares her home with her husband (Plemons), a butcher’s assistant who wants to support his wife’s self-discovery, even if he doesn’t quite understand it. Additional castings will be announced in the coming weeks.
Golden Globe nominations for season one of Fargo included best miniseries or motion picture made for television, as well as three acting nods.
