Cineflix Media has struck a strategic partnership with U.S. producer Strong Island Films.
The overall deal that covers development, production and distribution will see Cineflix hold an exclusive option to coproduce new projects developed by Strong Island, which is led by executive producer and showrunner Rob Dorfmann and doc maker Cindy DePasquale.
And Cineflix Rights, Cineflix’s distribution arm, will have an exclusive first-look at possibly distributing Strong Island’s North American output.
Dorfmann and DePasquale, who launched Strong Island Films a year ago, have development deals with HGTV, Investigation Discovery and FremantleMedia North America.
Strong Island Films will be based in Cineflix’s New York production office.
The latest tie-up follows Cineflix diversifying its production pipeline by forming a joint venture with U.K.-based Buccaneer Media in 2013.
Dorfmann’s TV credits include Discovery Channel’s series Saint Hoods, while DePasquale’s recent work includes National Geographic Channel’s Mayan Blue.
Dorfmann and DePasquale executive produced the two-hour documentary event My Uncle is the Green River Killer on LMN.
