Fox backs Back to You

Fox has ordered another 11 episodes of Back to You, bumping its first-season run to a robust 24 episodes despite soft ratings on both sides of the border.

The sitcom — which stars Kelsey Grammer as a TV newsman, opposite Patricia Heaton — averages about seven million viewers in the U.S., where it faces Pushing Daisies and Kid Nation Wednesdays at 8 p.m. It simulcasts here on Global, and debuted to over one million viewers, though its recent numbers have slid into the 500s.

In Canada, Back to You faces Private Practice, one of this season’s strongest newcomers on CTV, and CBC’s seemingly unstoppable Little Mosque on the Prairie.

Elsewhere on the dial, ABC has ordered another six of Samantha Who, the Christina Applegate-starring sitcom and ratings winner, seen here on the A-Channels. Earlier this week, ABC/CTV’s Pushing Daises was bumped to a full season of 22 episodes, while CBS cancelled the E! musical drama Viva Laughlin.
