The Canadian documentary The Exhibition, directed by Damon Vignale, on Monday won an International Emmy Award in the arts category in New York City.
The film follows artist Pamela Masik, who faces public outrage as she struggles to show a collection of paintings based on a police poster of missing women, 26 of whom were found murdered on convicted serial killer Robert Pickton’s farm in suburban Vancouver.
Vignale and The Exhibition producer Miho Yamamoto were on hand in New York City to pick up the International Emmy.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson presented the award.
Also nominated for International Emmys this year were actor Claude Legault for 19-2 (Sphere Media Plus / Echo Media) in the Best Actor category and 30 Lives: Maxim Bouchard (30 Vies) from Aetios Productions in the Telenovela category.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences held the 42nd International Emmy Awards, hosted by British comic and writer Matt Lucas.
