The Comedy Network is having it both ways with its newest original show, and will run Good Morning World online during the week, leading to a half-hour broadcast on Fridays.
The series, a send-up of morning talk shows, premieres online on Monday at thecomedynetwork.ca, which will feature five- to seven-minute shorts every weekday morning. The week’s worth of webisodes will be recapped in a half-hour broadcast episode, Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, beginning Nov. 16.
Calgary natives Peter Oldring and Pat Kelly created the show — in which they also star — as a pet project, posting episodes to goodmorningworld.com. After quickly attracting a cult following, the duo caught the attention of Comedy. The result: 130 webisodes and 26 broadcast episodes will air on the cable channel this season.
Episode highlights from the first two weeks include instructions on how to conduct a biannual umbrella checkup, how to make a breakfast pizza and how to teach kids about terrorism by making them feel terror. There’s also the inevitable fashion makeover, and features on donuts disguised as bran muffins.
