Cyber-Seniors doc lands broadcast, digital distribution

Director Saffron Cassaday’s documentary Cyber-Seniors (pictured) has secured deals with broadcast, digital and DVD distributors.

Virgil Films & Entertainment has picked up the North American digital rights, Autlook took international broadcast rights, and Passion River Films will handle worldwide public screenings and an educational DVD release.

The film, which focuses on a group of senior citizens who delve into online platforms for the first time with help from teenage mentors, played in cinemas across North America earlier this year. It will roll out across digital and video-on-demand platforms later this year and in early 2015.

The deal was negotiated by Joseph Amodei, Virgil Films & Entertainment president and CEO, Peter Jager, CEO of Autolook and Matthew Levy, senior director of sales and acquisitions of Passion River Films. Brenda Rusnak negotiated the deal on behalf of the Cyber-Seniors filmmakers. Rusnak of Best Part Productions also served as a producer on the Cyber-Seniors. The film was distributed theatrically in the U.S. by Area 23a and by Best Part Productions in Canada.
