Pro wrestler Rich Franklin and Bruce Greenwood will star in Weapon, an action film from the desk of John Flock, COO of Peace Arch Entertainment. Flock cowrote the script with Christopher Warre Smets (The Mad). It went to camera last month in Hamilton, ON, a frequent haunt of the Toronto company, under stunt worker-turned-director John Stead.
The feature has Franklin as a genetically engineered super-soldier on the run from his creator, Greenwood, with a U.S. border guard, played by Tiffani Thiessen, seen previously on Good Morning Miami and What About Brian. Jacqueline Kelly exec produces with Barbara Sacks (Warriors of Terra), Kate Harrison (The Mad) and Lewin Webb, Peace Arch’s head of production.
Peace Arch will distribute in Canada and act as worldwide sales agent.
The Toronto company was rocked last month by the arrest of then-CEO Gary Howsam for alleged bank fraud.
