Citytv has set airdates for the return of American Gladiators, and will see the campy competition return to air with a two-hour special on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. ET on its Toronto station and on its high-definition digichannel, Citytv HD.

The series will run in simulcast with NBC, moving to its regular timeslot, Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, on Jan. 7.

Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali host, as amateur athletes face off against 12 fierce new gladiators. Viewers will get a look at what each challenger went through to prepare for their battles in upgraded versions of such classic events as ‘the joust,’ ‘the wall’ and ‘the eliminator.’ The original American Gladiators ran in syndication from 1989 to 1996.
