Telefilm Canada has invested more than $7 million across seven English and French-language features through its Canada Feature Film Fund, including five productions with overall budgets of less than $2.5 million.
Among the smaller-budget films selected to receive funding were Sergio Navarretta’s The Colossal Failure of the Modern Relationship, Jennifer Liao’s The End of Days of Godfrey Global Inventory, David Bezmozgis’ Natasha, Stephane Beaudoin’s Chameau Lion Enfant and Alian Vezina’s Le Scaphandrier.
The Colossal Failure of the Modern Relationship, produced by Platinum Image film, received $56,000 in funding, while The End of Days of Godfrey Global received $40,000.
A total of $40,000 was invested in Chameau Lion Enfant, which is produced by Les Productions L’Art Sali. The January Films and Vortex Comics-produced Natasha received $500,000 in funding, while Le Scaphandrier received $153,000. Les Productions Cinematographiques Boreals Films is the producer on Le Scaphandrier.
Atom Egoyan’s Remember received $5.2 million in financing. Serendipity Point Films is on broad to produce the Christopher Plummer-starring film.
Finally, Ruba Nadda’s October Gale received $1.5 million in funding. The film is produced by Killer Films and Foundry Films.
