Corus lands Nickelodeon digital rights

Corus Entertainment has picked up the Canadian digital rights for Nickelodeon’s popular TV properties including Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants, extending its multi-year broadcast partnership with Nick parent MTV Networks International.

The agreement, announced Tuesday, covers all platforms, including broadcast, broadband, mobile, video-on-demand, electronic sell-through and gaming. The deal also enables Corus to represent Nick’s kids and family websites for advertising sales in Canada.

‘Corus has enjoyed a successful relationship with Nickelodeon for many years, but this venture takes our partnership to a whole new level,’ commented Corus president of television Paul Robertson in a release.

‘This newly deepened, customized partnership with Corus will now deliver the Nickelodeon programming Canadian kids have come to love across every platform they use,’ added MTVNI president Bob Bakish.

Corus’ kids channel YTV holds rights in Canada to all current Nickelodeon animated programming, while Nickelodeon Junior-produced shows air on Treehouse, also a Corus property.
