Peace Arch Entertainment has acquired the international sales rights to trio of films which will debut in Cannes.
The company has signed the drama William Vincent by writer/director Jay Anania (Day on Fire, Long Time Since). Rabbit Bandini Productions is behind the film in association with Limerick Films, Final Cut Collective and Blackacre Entertainment — with James Franco of the Spider-Man franchise starring as a criminal who falls for a gangster’s call girl.
Peace Arch also snapped up the comedy Pete Smalls Is Dead, directed by Alexandre Rockwell (A Perfect Place, 13 Moons). The film stars Tim Roth with Peter Dinklage, Rosie Perez and Steve Buscemi.
‘Our intention is to approach each market with a diverse slate of commercial films that appeal to mainstream audiences worldwide. The acquisition of William Vincent and Pete Smalls speaks directly to this mandate.’ said PAE’s president of international sales and distribution Julie Sultan in a statement.
The third pickup, Wild Oats, will also be shopped to foreign buyers at Cannes. The lighthearted comedy stars Shirley MacLaine, Maria Bello and Christina Ricci, telling the story of a widow who goes on an adventure with her granddaughter.
Packaged by CAA and ICM, the film is directed by Scott Marshall, produced by Blythe Frank and Agathe David-Weill and executive producer Michael Mailer.
