Decode Entertainment has landed distribution rights for the new preschool series Animal Mechanicals, from creator Jeff Rosen (Poko) and DHX Media, its sister company under Halifax Film.
The show, commissioned by CBC, will launch on CBC Kids later this year, though no airdate has been set.
The 40 x 11 CG-animated series follows mythical animals Rex, Unicorn, Komodo, Sasquatch and Mouse, as they transform to take on challenges in a world that also alters its appearance.
The series is currently in post-production on its first 20 episodes. Executive producers are Rosen, DHX chairman Michael Donovan and Charles Bishop, president of DHX’s Halifax Film unit.
‘This series is a fantastic addition to our slate of preschool entertainment,’ commented Decode president Neil Court in a release. Decode also handles international rights to other kids and family programming from Halifax Film, including Bo on the Go and Poko.
