• Naked News has struck a series of franchise agreements that will see its clothing-free coverage produced in Spanish, Italian and Korean. The Toronto-based netcaster, which boasts viewers in 172 nations, says it is looking to be a more international service, ‘much like CNN or BBC World.’
• CTV has added Mad Men and Dexter to its midseason slate, using the critically lauded cable series to prop up its strike-addled primetime schedule. CTV will run Dexter in simulcast with CBS, which also picked up the Showtime series, starring Michael C. Hall as a forensics expert who moonlights as a serial killer. Airdates for Mad Men, which debuted last summer on AMC, have not been announced.
• Women on Top is going to more than a half-dozen new markets following a series of deals at Ellis Releasing. The half-hour lifestyle series will now air in the U.K. and Northern Ireland, the Middle East, Switzerland and elsewhere.
• Toronto sales company Cinesavvy has bought the worldwide rights to Phantom Punch, the Toronto-shot biopic of boxer Sonny Liston, starring Ving Rhames.
• Breakthrough Entertainment has nabbed the world rights to The World Without US, a feature doc about the impact of American military involvement around the world today.
