Ireland-based animation studio Brown Bag Films is in expansion mode and has opened a Canadian office, putting Alan Gregg, former VP of the kids division at Alliance Atlantis, in charge as VP of international production.
Gregg was among those laid off at AA last August upon its purchase by Canwest and Goldman Sachs. At the Toronto office of Brown Bag, he will oversee the expansion of the development slate for TV and feature films, concentrating on preschool, family and tween-skewing projects. He’ll be reporting directly to managing director Cathal Gaffney.
A vet of the children’s business in Canada, Gregg joined AA from tooncaster YTV in early 2000, and has worked on various kids properties, including Henry’s World, Dragon Booster and Lunar Jim.
Established in 1994, Brown Bag has produced kids series, including Crap Rap for RTE, and is currently working on Wobbyland for Nickelodeon UK and HIT Entertainment.
