Resurrected after cancellation — thanks to fan support that included sending CBS tons of peanuts — Jericho will return to CTV on Feb. 12, taking the Tuesday 10 p.m. spot. The post-apocalyptic hit about desperate lives in a Kansas town after much of the world is destroyed by a nuclear war will also debut on Space on Feb. 16. (All times Eastern.)
Jericho was previously a CHUM property, before CTVglobemedia bought the CHUM specialties and Rogers Media purchased the Citytvs.
Joining series star Skeet Ulrich for season two are Esai Morales (NYPD Blue) and Toronto native Kenneth Mitchell (Leap Years). Having a new episode of American Idol as the lead-in for episode one shouldn’t exactly hurt the ratings for the series’ much-anticipated return.
‘Jericho delivers non-stop action, gritty drama and nail-biting suspense, which explains why it has one of the most loyal fan bases in all of television,’ said CTV programming boss Susanne Boyce in a statement.
Another series bound to attract major viewership is The Big Give, which will debut on CTV on Sunday, March 2 at 9 p.m. The first primetime series from Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions is a reality show with an idealistic twist. An all-celeb cast of contestants — reportedly including John Travolta, Jennifer Aniston, Andre Agassi and Donald Trump — will vie to see who can give away enough big bucks to make the biggest difference in the lives of folks across America. Contestants won’t just be reaching into their deep pockets, but facing mysterious ‘tests of their ingenuity and passion.’
Incidentally, Big O’s company is also prepping Your Money or Your Life, a series about which little is known except that it’s about families in crisis, and it will be broadcast in the U.S. by ABC.
