The fifth estate earns Int’l Emmy nomination

The CBC has received an international Emmy nomination for an episode of the fifth estate.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Tuesday unveiled eight nominees for the 2014 current affairs and news categories, including the episode “the fifth estate: Made in Bangladesh.”

The fifth estate episode saw host Mark Kelley in Bangladesh talking to local garment workers who make clothes for Canada, and were impacted by the April 2013 collapse of the Rana Plaza factory.

The CBC program will compete against rival shows from Argentina, Brazil, China, Romania, Russia, The Philippines and the U.K.

Winners will be announced in New York on Sept. 30.
