Travel show goes the distance

Sinking Ship Entertainment and National Geographic Television International have closed a series of deals around the globe for Are We There Yet?

The companies this week said the children’s travel show has been picked up by broadcasters in nine territories, including Disney Japan, Sweden’s SVT, Ho Chi Minh City TV in Vietnam and Al-Jazeera. These follow previous deals that have sent the show to Australia, New Zealand, France, Singapore and elsewhere.

Sales are also said to be pending in Spain, South Africa and Scandinavia.

The unscripted series follows siblings as they travel the globe. ‘Buyers really enjoy the kids’ charming, unscripted travels and various experiences and readily see how they will resonate with their own young viewers, providing them with a unique window on the world,’ said Karen Vermeulen, head of kids sales at NGTI, in a statement.

The series premiered on Treehouse last summer. A second season is in the works with Sinking Ship in Toronto.
