A trio of projects received multiple nominations for the ACTRA Awards in Montreal, announced this week by the English-Canada actors union’s Quebec branch.
Karine Vanasse and Fanny La Croix are both short-listed for outstanding female performance for the CBC-aired Barna-Alper Productions/Big Motion Pictures miniseries October 1970, which recounts the FLQ crisis.
Meanwhile, Caroline Dhavernas and Ellen David from Cinémaginaire’s comedy Surviving My Mother took two of the remaining three nods in the same category. Laurence Leboeuf from the The Movie Network/Movie Central thriller series Durham County rounds out the category.
Leboeuf’s Durham County co-star Patrick Labbé is in the mix in the male performance category, which also features Christopher Heyerdahl and Cas Anvar, from the minis Killer Wave and Superstorm, respectively, Andrew Walker from the feature Steel Toes, and Mark Camacho from the short The Ecstasy Note.
Meanwhile, Spectra Animation’s Teletoon series Fred’s Head dominates the voice performance category, with Matthew Mackay, Rick Jones and Holly Gauthier-Frankel snapping up slots in the final five.
The awards will be held May 10 at the Just For Laughs Museum in Montreal. For a full list of nominees, go to www.actramontreal.ca.
