Telefilm Canada has announced an $11.8 million investment in nine French-language feature films through the Canada Feature Film Fund.
Endorphine, from writer/director Abdre Turpin and producer micro_scope, received $2.1 million in funding. The film will be distributed by Les Films Christal and is slated for a fall 2015 release.
Sylvain Archambault’s Le grand verglas received $1.65 million in funding. Jacque Savoie is the screenwriter on the project, with Ad Lib Films producing and Les Films Seville set to distribute the film.
La passion d’Augustine, from writer/director Lea Pool and producer Lyla Films, received $1.5 million in financing. The film will be distributed by Les Films Christal and has a release date of fall 2015. King Dave also received a $1.5 million investment. The film is directed by Podz (Daniel Grou) and written by Alexadre Goyette, with Go Films producing and Les Fils Seville on board as distributor. The film has a spring 2015 release date.
Ville-Marie, from director/writer Guy Edoin and produced by Max Films, received $1.2 million. The project was selected participate in the Cinefoundation’s Atelier program, which invites 15 directors and producers with promising projects to Cannes with the goal of connecting the filmmakers to international coproducers. Ville-Marie has a fall 2015 release date, with Filmoption International currently on board as a distributor.
Le journal d’Aurelie Laflamme, les pieds sur terre, from director Nicolas Monette and screenwriter India Desjardins, received $1.4 million. The film is produced by Films Vision 4, with distribution being handled by Teleficition distribution et marketing.
Writer/director Louis Belanger’s Les mauvaises herbes received $1 million in financing. The film was co-written by Alexis Martin, and produced by Coop Video de Montreal. Les Films Christal will distribute the film, which is currently scheduled for a fall 2015 release.
Bernard Emond’s Le journal d’un vieil homme received $952,555 in funding. ACPAV is producing the project, with Les Films Seville distributing the film which is set for a fall 2015 release. Le Mirage, from director Ricardo Trogi and screenwriter Louis Morissette, received $197,000 in funding from Telefilm. The film is produced by Christal Films Production and will be distributed by Les Films Christal, with a summer 2015 release.
