Portfolio Entertainment was busy at MIPTV, closing a trio of deals for Carl Squared.
France’s Canal+ picked up the pay-TV rights for all four seasons (65 x 30) of the animated comedy, which airs domestically on Teletoon. Sorpresa! picked up the first two seasons (39 x 30) to air to the U.S. Hispanic audience.
Portfolio also added to the show’s list of international broadcast territories in a deal with SW Television/Channel Four Finland, which will premiere the series to Scandinavian audiences.
‘As the global market clamors for more comedy, these benchmark sales demonstrate the sustaining popularity for tween hits like Carl Squared,’ said Portfolio director of sales and acquisitions Jon Rutherford, in a statement.
With the newly announced deals, Carl Squared now runs in 15 territories and over 100 countries, including Israel, Australia and South Africa. The show has also been translated into 12 languages.
