Black Fly wraps principal photography

Shooting has wrapped on the thriller Black Fly, the first theatrical feature film Canadian writer and director Jason Bourque.

Black Fly was shot in British Columbia, with Ken Frith and Robyn Wiener serving as producers. Mahlon Todd Williams is director of photography, and Paul McCulloch is production designer. The thriller stars Matthew MacCaull, Dakota Daulby and Christie Burk. Black Fly, set in 1984, follows the self-discovery story of a troubled teen.

The film is Bourque’s first feature script, and is based loosely on his own experience of growing up in rural New Brunswick where his family lived next door to a serial killer. Bourque wrote the script for the film after he completed Vancouver Film School’s one-year foundation program in 1996.

Black Fly received financing from Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Telefund, in association with Super Channel.
