CCI Entertainment and Weekly Reader Publishing Group have inked an agreement to develop and produce content and products based on the Weekly Reader franchise.
The exclusive development and production agreement is aimed at introducing a lineup of new concepts to the market over the next several years and producing audiovisual material targeted at TV broadcast, as well as DVD and online distribution.
Toronto-based CCI will be scouting for manufacturing partners to create interactive merchandise that can extend the educational experience of the property into leisure areas, including hobby play. Weekly Reader is currently used as an educational resource in more than 300,000 classrooms in the U.S. as well as in more than one million U.S. households.
