Google launches Chromecast in Canada

Google announced on Tuesday it’s expanding the distribution of its digital media player Chromecast, launching the device in Canada and 10 European countries.

The Chromecast receiver, which allows viewers to stream content from the web onto their TV sets, costs about $39. The other new European markets are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K.

Viewers in the U.K. and France will be able to stream local content from the BBC iPlayer, France TV Pluzz, SFR TV and Canalplay. Apps from German VOD platforms Watchever and Maxdome will also be launching.

Chromecast, which launched in the U.S. last July, can be bought on Amazon, Google Play, Currys PC World, Elkjøp, FNAC, Saturn and Media Markt.
