Rogers’ Citytv will debut the goofy new reality show I Survived a Japanese Game Show on Tuesday, June 24 at 8 p.m. As of July 15, the show will move to a 9 p.m. timeslot, in simulcast with ABC.
Hosted and interpreted by Japanese-fluent actor Tony Sano (Touch Wood, Beating Vegas), the show will offer an exclusive look at 10 everyday Americans battling to win a cash prize of $250,000 by adapting to Japanese culture as quickly as they can. Among the contestants are a waitress, a real estate appraiser and a veterinarian.
The show will feature Mamasan, a house-mother and resident pot-stirrer, as well as game show host Rome Kanda (Pink Panther, Saturday Night Live). The show is executive produced by the team behind Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen.
