Lionsgate inks film supply deal with Italy’s Leone Film Group

As Lionsgate fills out its worldwide network of output deals with major distributors, the Vancouver-based studio on Monday unveiled a  partnership with Italy’s Leone Film Group for the release of its titles in the Italian market.

The latest supply deal will cover feature films from its Lionsgate and Summit labels.

Leone Film Group was originally founded by Sergio Leone, best known for his spaghetti westerns, and is today run by his children. Andrea Leone serves as president and co-founder along with his sister Raffaella Leone.

The Italian distributor’s recent releases include Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate and Ron Howard’s Rush.

Italy is among the last major territories not covered by an output arrangement after earlier agreements in Germany, Scandinavia, Spain, Australia and France.

Lionsgate releases its own titles in the UK, and has a self-distribution partnership with IDC in Latin America.
