MTV has tapped Brent Haynes as its SVP of series development on the east coast, effective immediately, confirming rumors that the longtime Comedy Network exec was moving to the U.S. cabler after his departure from CTVglobemedia in April.
Haynes will be based in New York and will focus on development of reality and scripted fare to complement MTV’s programming slate on the west coast. He will report to Liz Gateley, who oversees series development for MTV.
‘Brent’s eye for creative, compelling and imaginative programming is only matched by his unique understanding of the youth audience. As a television visionary whose contributions cannot be understated, we are incredibly fortunate to have Brent join our MTV family,’ commented Gateley in a press release.
Haynes joined Comedy just before its launch in 1997, and was instrumental in launching hit shows including Corner Gas, Odd Job Jack and Keys to the VIP. He was named VP at Comedy and Space last year, following CTVgm’s takeover of CHUM.
